Case Study
Agent X is a Managing Agent in the UK, which manages in excess of 70,000 units. PDC and PDC Law are their preferred debt collection and legal company appointed to collect their service charges, ground rents and other property related debts.
The below information is based on debts referred to both companies together with the costs, if any, that have been
(i) raised
(ii) written off and
(iii) payable.
- Instructed over 4,000 debts from January – December 2019
- 3,567 cases dealt with at a pre-legal stage by PDC
- Agent X did not receive a bill for any works carried out by PDC, all its costs were recoverable and paid directly by the defaulting tenant.
- Agent X requested 623 cases be closed for various reasons. No bills were raised to Agent X or its client for the works undertaken.

What you need to know
PDC Law works on a conditional fee agreement with a 0% success fee. That agreement stipulates that legal fees including disbursements are limited to the sums awarded / settled with only these responsibilities:
1.1 give us instructions that allow us to do our work properly;
1.2 do not ask us to work in an improper or unreasonable way;
1.3 do not deliberately mislead us;
1.4 co-operate with us;
1.5 attend any court hearing.
